Receipt of order in business segment of IEDDs

September 2009

The largest incoming order to date in the area of terror defence comes from Saudi Arabia. Ten local IEDD (Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal) teams are being equipped with the ten commissioned mini MACE type Water Abrasive Suspension (WAS) cutting systems. The mobile cutting systems are operated primarily by the use of a remote-controlled IEDD robot. Because the system is operated by remote control, the operating team is protected from any risk of injury.

The compact and mobile mini MACE system’s water jet, which is enriched with abrasive material (“cutting sand”) and compressed to an operating pressure of 450 bar, has a variety of applications, such as providing access for remote controlled cameras to view suspicious objects. However, its main use is that of enabling the safe defusing (disarming) of improvised explosive charges. In contrast to conventional detonation, this method allows to examine the explosive charge from the standpoint of design and evidence, which further helps authorities in their efforts to determine and narrow down the field of potential suspects.

Celebrating ANT AG’s 10th Anniversary

July 9, 2009

ANT AG celebrated its 10th anniversary on July 9, 2009. The event was attended by a large number of fine clients and reliable suppliers both from abroad as well as local.

In their toast, board members Franz Eder and Marco Linde placed special emphasis on the favourable collaboration with clients and suppliers, without whom enduring success of ANT’s business would not be possible. The speakers also found words of appreciation for the members of the ANT-team, most of which have been “on board” since the founding of the company.

The celebration was held in a quiet setting and lasted into the early morning hours. Some of the more than 100 attendees enjoyed the celebration so much they wanted to know when the next ceremony would be held. Although the next ceremony has not yet been scheduled, we hereby promise to send out invitations in a timely fashion!

We would once again like to express our thanks for everyone’s enthusiastic participation!

Stade Nuclear Power Plant: Dismantling of the reactor pressure vessel components in record time

May 27, 2009

The systems engineering technology delivered by ANT to the company AREVA NP GmbH, Erlangen, for the dismantling of the reactor pressure vessel components at the Stade Nuclear Power Station performed its function to utmost satisfaction. Following a testing phase at the start of the decommissioning work, the last segment of dismantling was carried out on the lower core support structure of the reactor pressure vessel on May 26 at 10:48 a.m. at the Stade Nuclear Power Plant.

The experts of our client AREVA safely and skillfully dismantled all components using the Water Abrasive Suspension (WAS) jet cutting technology underwater at a maximum depth of 18 m. The ANT components and WAS cutting system demonstrated their special strong points, namely flexibility, high performance and reliability in performing a prompt and safe dismantling of the components.

Please visit the following website to read the relevant press release (in German language only) by the owners of the Stade Nuclear Power Plant, E.ON Kernkraft.

Siempelkamp NIS Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Alzenau/Germany, relies again on ANT’s competence in decommissioning of Nuclear Power Plants (NPP’s).

January 2009

For operations in the Control Area of NPP’s safety and efficiency are highest command. For this reason the segmentation of contaminated components is conducted by remote operation. For the development and manufacturing of remote operated manipulation systems/robotics and mechanical engineering for decommissioning of nuclear facilities ANT has long-time experiences.

Based on these experiences as well as the successes in the cooperation in the decommissioning project of the MZFR in Karlsruhe, Siempelkamp NIS Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Alzenau, has again decided to rely on the mechanical engineering of ANT for the segmentation of the reactor pressure vessel of the German NPP Stade. The major order issued by Siempelkamp NIS Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Alzenau, to ANT contains the delivery of the infrastructure which is essential for the remote controlled segmentation of the 160 tons weighting reactor pressure vessel into small pieces.

With a project time of more than one year this order assures a high rate of utilization for ANT’s Nuclear division well into the year 2010.

Third volume order of AREVA

April 2008

In 2006 Areva has placed the first large volume order to ANT. It covered the delivery of a

complete WAS Cutting System including remote controlled systems for the underwater

decommissioning of the internals from the reactor pressure vessel in the Nuclear Power

Plant (NPP) Würgassen. Due to the successful and in due time completed

decommissioning in September 2007, Areva already decided in 2007 to employ Water

Abrasive Suspension (WAS) technology supplied by ANT for a very comparable operation

in the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Stade. The job will already start in the second quarter

of 2008.

The recently placed third large order now covers the delivery of complex WAS cutting

devices for the decommissioning of the pressure vessel in the Nuclear Power Plant in

Würgassen; delivery will be conducted end of 2008.

Placing these repeated large volume orders prove evidence for ANT’s strive for long term

customer relationship and high customer satisfaction, which are well established in ANT’s

guidelines and find their expression in the daily efforts spend by each single staff

member.
